Not many Greeks drink Ayran today and the ones who do are usually the old people, especially the ones with Anatolian Greek heritage (Pontic Greeks etc). In the past, my grandmother was making it but mostly to accompany foods that were made of pasta. I was personally never a big fan of it, i only had it a few times and i cant say that i miss it.
